Monday Meal Planning

I'm sitting here making my grocery list and starting with a meal plan and the coupons I clipped on Sunday for some guidance. I thought I'd share what we're doing. We meal plan for the 5 weekdays and wing it on the weekends since we're not sure what we'll be doing.

We strive to have:
at least 2 vegetarian dishes a week
leftovers for my lunches (B takes sandwiches)
grill out at least once (sometimes it doesn't happen during the week)

Monday - tofu (either stir fry with pineapple and veggies or curried with chickpeas)
Tuesday - grill night - chicken, peppers, onions, pineapple,
Wednesday - leftover grilled stuff on top of baby spinach
Thursday - summer veggie pasta
Friday - salmon with rice pilaf and roasted asparagus

  1. This is by far the best way to save money on the grocery bill & keep yourself from wasting food!!! Once you get used to planning out your meals ahead of time, I have two more tricks for you....1) use the store ad to plan around what's on sale (atleast a meal or two) and 2) plan for more than one week at a time (I usually go for 9-10 days) that way you're in the grocery store atleast one less time a month & not as likely to give into the impulse buys. Anyway, just some things that work for us.
Now I will sit and wish that we were having dinner with you guys on Thursday night........summer veggie pasta, yummmmmmm!

  2. Thanks for the tips. When do the store ads come out? Sunday for the whole next week? I'd love to plan ahead much farther and if we had a house of our own right now I'd be looking into a deep freezer I imagine.
